First Aid Training
Certifying Body: St. John Ambulance, Alberta Council
We proudly offer St. John Ambulance courses. First aid training covers
several areas and levels of expertise.
- Standard First Aid Level A
- Standard First Aid Level C

Emergency First Aid
- First Aid in Child Care
Successful participants will receive permanent certificates from St. John Ambulance, valid for three years.
Following the lead of St. John Ambulance Alberta Council, we include AED training in
our Athabasca public classes and will include it in your site training upon request.
Standard First Aid Level A
This two-day course covers all the skills in Emergency First Aid plus first aid for other injuries and illnesses including head and spinal injuries, fractures of the upper and lower limbs. This course includes Level A CPR training and certification (Adult resuscitation only) and AED training.

Standard First Aid Level C
This two-day course covers all the skills in Emergency First Aid plus first aid for other injuries and illnesses including head and spinal injuries, fractures of the upper and lower limbs. This course includes Level C CPR training and certification (Adult, child and infant resuscitation) and AED training.

EFA - Emergency First Aid Level A
In this one-day course, students will learn to recognize and provide interventions for life-threatening emergencies until medical aid arrives. Topics include: CPR and choking for adults, shock and unconsciousness, severe bleeding, major medical conditions and AED training.
Students attend the first day of the two day Standard course.

FACC - First Aid in Child Care
Do you work with children in a school or daycare setting? If so, then this is your course! This training includes the first aid skills you need to assist infants, children or adults. If you have a group of eight (or more), we will help you schedule a class to accomodate Professional Development Days, school holidays, evenings or two Saturdays. We can train in your facility or ours!
This two day course is designed for professional child care workers, but is also great for parents and all caregivers. Course includes Level C CPR. Successful completion of this course provides the First Aid in Child Care certificate as required by Day Care/Day Home Licensing.
Topics Taught Include:
- Emergency Scene Management
- Choking
- Shock and unconciousness
- Severe bleeding, spinal injuries and fractures
- Resuscitation skills for infants, children and adults

CPR Standards
All cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) modules and courses are taught to St. John Ambulance national standards, which are in accordance with the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) recommendations. New protocols have been incorporated in all St. John First Aid and CPR courses.
