The course is designed to understand and apply the Securement requirements, safely loading and securing specific types of commodities,and inspecting a secured load for compliance with the North American Cargo Securement Standard. By following the requirements in the North American Cargo Securement Standard,
you will be in compliance with Provincial (Canada) and Federal (US) regulations.
The training consists of 13 modules, the first 2 deal with the science and physics of the standard and the remaining 11 deal with specific cargo types, modes and characteristics.
The 11 prescribed cargo specific modules include: Logs; Dressed Lumber; Metal Coils; Paper Rolls; Concrete Pipe-Crosswise; Intermodal Containers; Automobiles, Light Trucks & Vans; Heavy Vehicles, Equipment& Machinery; Flattened or Crushed Vehicles; Roll-on/Roll-off Containers & Hook Lift Vehicles; and Large Boulders.
For our Athabasca public schedule, the half day course will consist of Modules 1 & 2 plus one other module of specific interest. We will be partnering Transportation of Dangerous Goods training in the morning followed by the Cargo Securement course in the afternoon.
For employers/carriers with multiple cargo types, the training can be customized to include additional modules. The training time required will increase proportionately, from one half day to two full days.
