Basic Chainsaw Safety
Certifying Body: Aggressive Training Services
Increase your peace of mind by knowing that your workers have received training on safe chainsaw use. This course was designed specifically for new or occasional chainsaw users, including grader operators, gas plant operators and maintenance workers for outdoor facilities.
Having them participate in our Basic Chainsaw Safety Course can help you meet the requirements of legislation - as well as give you confidence that they have adequate information on safe chainsaw operation.
Course Details:
- Introduction to Alberta OH&S Legislation
- Basic Chainsaw Maintenance
- Cutting Basics
- Practical Cutting Exercises
- Written Exam
This course has both classroom and practical components. By the conclusion of the course, students will know about hazards, personal protective equipment, sharpening and refuelling, the most common cuts and which trees to avoid. There is approximately 4 hours of classroom instruction followed by actual chainsaw practice. This training is essential for homeowners and outdoor enthusiasts who cut their own firewood.
Successful participants will receive a permanent certificate from Aggressive Training Services, valid for 3 years.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
1) This is NOT a faller certification course. This training is for those who use chainsaws periodically; to provide a fundamental understanding of safe chainsaw use and injury prevention.
2) Participants must wear safety footwear and bring their own gloves. PPE will be provided during the practical portion of the training.
